Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, finely diced

1 carrot, shredded

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped (shiitake or button)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated

Chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish

Sliced red chili for optional heat

Instructions

Sauté the Beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Flavor Base: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan. Stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the chopped onion, red bell pepper, and shredded carrot. Sauté for around 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Mushroom Goodness: Add the finely chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until they release their moisture and become tender.

Seasonings and Sauces: Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare Lettuce Wraps: Rinse and dry the lettuce leaves carefully. Depending on the size of the leaves, you may want to cut them in half.

Assemble: Place a generous scoop of the beef mixture onto each lettuce leaf. Top with chopped green onions, cilantro, and sliced red chili for extra heat if desired.

Serve: Serve immediately with extra dipping sauces on the side if desired. Enjoy your fresh and flavorful wraps!
