Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup melted coconut oil (or vegetable oil)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted coconut oil. Mix until well incorporated.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Ensure everything is mixed smoothly.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

If desired, fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips for added texture and flavor.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious banana bread brownies warm or at room temperature!
