Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to preference)

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

For the Firecracker Sauce:

1/2 cup sweet chili sauce

1/4 cup ketchup

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp sriracha (add more for extra heat)

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp grated ginger

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Make the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spaced out evenly.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and slightly browned on the outside.

Prepare the Firecracker Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha, sesame oil, and grated ginger in a medium bowl until well combined.

Glaze the Meatballs: After 20-25 minutes, remove the meatballs from the oven and drizzle half of the firecracker sauce over them. Use a spatula to gently toss the meatballs so they are evenly coated.

Broil for Extra Glaze: Return the meatballs to the oven and broil on high for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the glaze for an extra layer of flavor. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle the remaining sauce over the meatballs and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
