Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (or turkey)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice level)

1/2 cup sweet chili sauce

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into bite-sized meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Prepare the Firecracker Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.

Combine and Coat: Once the meatballs are finished baking, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Pour the firecracker sauce over the warm meatballs and toss until they are evenly coated.

Serve: Transfer the meatballs to a serving platter, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and enjoy with steamed rice, noodles, or on their own as an appetizer!
