1 tsp salt

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (preferably Granny Smith)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/4 cup raisins or chopped walnuts (optional)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2-3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.

      - Add the melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix well.

        - Gradually add flour and salt, kneading until the dough forms a smooth ball (around 8-10 minutes by hand or using a stand mixer).

          - Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

            Make the Filling:

              - In a medium bowl, mix the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and optional ingredients. Set aside.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

                    - On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).

                      - Spread the apple filling over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.

                        - Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log.

                          - Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them in the greased baking dish.

                            Second Rise:

                              - Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.

                                Bake:

                                  - Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan.

                                    Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting:

                                      - In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth.

                                        - Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy. Add milk to adjust the consistency as needed.

                                          Frost the Rolls:

                                            - Spread the cream cheese frosting over warm rolls. Serve and enjoy!
