1 lb (450g) flank steak, sliced against the grain into thin strips

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon water

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Chopped green onions for garnish

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

    Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water together to make a slurry and set aside.

      Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

        Cook the Steak: Add the marinated steak in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.

          Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add sliced onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until they start to soften. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

            Combine Everything: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir to combine everything.

              Thicken the Sauce: Pour the cornstarch slurry over the steak and vegetables, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and coats all the ingredients, about 1-2 minutes.

                Serve: Remove from heat and serve the sizzling pepper steak over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions.
