Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce leaves, for serving

Sliced tomatoes, for serving

Optional: Your favorite burger toppings (such as avocado, pickles, or sauces)

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and egg.

Mix until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overwork the mixture; this helps keep the burgers tender.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the grill grates or skillet with oil to prevent sticking.

Once hot, place the chicken patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side.

Flip the patties and cook for another 5-6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the patties are golden brown.

If you would like to melt additional cheese on top, add slices of white cheddar during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

Assemble your burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a chicken patty, sliced tomatoes, and any other desired toppings.

Place the top half of the bun over the burger and serve immediately.
